Mohamedi Charinda Tanzania, 1947 – 2021

Charinda, Wasia Mohamedi was born in Nakapanya village in southern Tanzania; attended primary school in 1954; did military service in 1969; moved to Dar es Salaam in 1972; in 1975 he became an apprentice to the artist Hashim Mruta; he worked within the collective conventions of Tingatinga Cooperative Society based in Oyster Bay, Dar Es Salaam; exhibited in Switzerland in 1999 and at Dom-Tom in Reunion Island, France; his works can be seen in the Sainsbury African Galleries in the British Museum.
