AUGUSTINO MALABA, Tanzania 1949 – 2021
Augustino who was born in 1949 born grew up in the Mtwara region of Tanzania.
In 1972 Augustino arrived in Dar es Salaam where he met with George Lilanga at the cultural centre, Nyumba ya Sanaa and they worked many years together.
This work was one of his last carvings he made. Because of his sickness he asked Hendrick Lilanga one of his best friends and famous Artist to paint it for him. This was a collaboration piece and one of his last works.
